Coimbatore,The Fastest Growing City of Tamil Nadu 

Coimbatore is a major city which is located in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is the third largest city in Tamil Nadu after Chennai and Madurai. The metropolis is also referred by the name of Kovai. The city is situated on the banks of river Noyyal. It is primarily renowned across the country as the top manufacturer of automobile spare parts, textile industries, engineering firms, health care centers, schools, colleges and the tranquil climate. The city is commonly known as Koneyammanputhhur which literally means birth place of the Goddess. It is also famous for its exports of goods such as textiles, electric motors, pumps, automobile spares, iron steel and aluminium castings. There are more than 25,000 small, medium, large and tiny industries and textile mills. There are more than 40 thousand small, medium and large Industries situated around Coimbatore, people from all over the globe are attracted to visit Coimbatore once in their life time. Coimbatore city is situated on the banks of river Noyal, a tributary of river Cauvery. Existence of Coimbatore can be traced back to 2nd Century AD as a small tribal village capital called Kongunad. According to Manuscript Chola Poorva Pattayam found in the Madras (Chennai) Oriental Manuscript Library, a small village kovanputhur named after a leader of the group kovan existed here. Later it was changed as Coimbatore. Coimbatore is also known as Kovai in Tamil language. Karikalan, a famous Chola king brought Kondunad under his control. Kongunad was ruled by many famous kings from Cheras, Pandyas, Pallavas, Hoysalas, Vijayanagara and Chalukyas. Later when British ruled kongunad along with rest of India. It was during this British period many famous textile mills came.

Marudhamalai Hill temple
Marudhamalai Hill temple is one of the most famous temple located in Coimbatore. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The 12th century temple is surrounded by numerous trees, plants and herbs with hills in the backdrop. Devotees throng to the shrine in large numbers on occasion of festivals like Thai Poosam and Tirukarthigai.

Dhyanalinga Yogic Temple
Dhyanalinga Yogic Temple is also most beautiful temple in Coimbatore which is popular for its beautiful architecture. It is famous for the largest mercury based lingam. The shrine is linked with numerous sages and siddhas, who worshipped at the centre. Major highlights of the shrine are decorations on the natural granite.

Black Thunder Theme Park
Black Thunder Theme Park is one of the most famous amusement park in Coimbatore. It is known for its adventurous rides, the theme park also has arrangements for conferencing, accommodation and birthday celebrations.

Velliangiri Mountains
Velliangiri Mountains is a part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve of the Western Ghats is located near Poondi which is about 40 kms from Coimbatore. This mountain is popularly known as the 'Kailash of the South', and is an important religious destination. The main attraction here is a Lord Shiva temple atop the mountain, under a natural cave.

Bhavani Sagar Dam
Bhavani Sagar Dam is a most visited place in Coimbatore. It is located 80 kms from Coimbatore and is one of the largest earthen dams in India and has been constructed over River Bhawani. With beautiful sprawling gardens, it is a delight for children and perfect place for picnics.
